Social Emergency Response Service

The Loft offers a free and confidential Social Emergency Response Service (SERS) for those in need of most types of support. We will talk to you about what's going on and develop a wellbeing plan. We have 14 partner agencies for internal referrals, but we also refer externally.

How does it work?

  • Come into The Loft between 9am and 4.30pm, Monday through Friday (we close at 5pm), and ask to speak to a Community Connector. We can often see people immediately, but there may be a wait.
  • During your session, the Connector will get basic details about you and provide you with a chance to say what is going on. From there, the Connector will create a wellbeing plan that includes referrals to other agencies and/or information for you to follow up on.

If you can't come into The Loft,

  • Call 0800 865 638 and ask to speak to a Connector, and we can set up an appointment.
  • If you can't make it into The Loft, phone assessments are possible.
  • Fill out the brief form on our website here, and we will quickly get back to you.

On-site services cover the following:

  • Anger management
  • Budgeting help
  • Child and family services
  • Disability support
  • Family violence intervention and prevention
  • Legal, tenancy, and general advice
  • Housing advocacy
  • Immigrant and refugee support
  • Mental health support
  • Problem gambling services
  • Sexual assault support
  • Small interest-free loans
  • Social work assistance for the whole family

If our Loft partners are not a good fit, we will explore other options to best suit your needs.
